downarrow When should the financial document be dated?

All financial documents received by the International Center must be dated within the past 3 months. For example, if the International Center receives your financial documents on March 13, 2015, your document must have been issued on/or after January 13, 2015.

downarrow My Certificate of Deposit (CD) was issued more than 3 months ago; however, the       ”maturity” date is in the future, will you accept this document?

Yes, the International Center will accept your financial document if the document was issued more than 3 months ago, but the maturity date is in the future. For example, if the International Center receives a document on March 13, 2015 that was issued more than 3 months prior, the document must have a maturity date of March 13, 2015 or later in the future.

downarrow My bank will not provide a letter in English, what can I do?

You must provide a notarized translation of your letter. Contact an authorized notary in your country.

downarrow My bank will not provide proof in U.S. Dollars (USD), what can I do?

You must provide an online conversion to USD. Include a screenshot of this conversion with your financial documents. The date of the conversion must be less than one month old. Your document must be in English.

downarrow I have been working and my employer can verify my yearly salary, will that be enough?

No. You must provide proof that the total minimum amount is currently available to you. Providing your current salary or salary history does not meet this requirement.

downarrow I have stocks/bonds/own property, will you accept their value as proof of funding?

No. The proof you provide must be liquid assets and available for immediate use. Please remember that proof of funding is used to ensure that you can support your tuition and fee requirements as well as your living expenses; if the assets are not liquid you are not able to use them for this purpose.

downarrow I currently do not have the minimum required amount. Can I submit partial financial       proof now, wait to raise money, and then provide proof of the remaining amount later?

No. You must demonstrate the total amount required. The International Center will not process your request for a visa document if you do not meet the minimum funding amount.

downarrow I was able to borrow money from my relatives to provide proof of funding. Can I       provide this as proof of funding?

If you have relatives funding your studies at UCI, you must either: (a) have the entire minimum amount available to you in your personal bank account; or (b) the relative must provide an Affidavit of Financial support (a letter of financial support) indicating that the funds in their bank account are available for your use.

Sample Text for Affidavit of Financial Support:
To Whom It May Concern,
I (fill in name), (relationship to student), am willing and able to provide the educational and living expenses in the amount of ($$$$$) for (name of student), during their studies at UCI.” (Signature) (Print Name) (Date)

downarrow I am requesting a visa document for my dependent(s), will I still need to provide an       Affidavit of Financial Support if the financial documents are not in my name?

Yes, you must ensure that all financial documents you submit are either: (a) in your name, or (b) provided with an Affidavit of Financial Support. The reason is that as the primary visa holder, you are responsible for demonstrating enough funds to sponsor your dependent(s). Even if the financial documents belong to your dependent(s) they must include an Affidavit of Financial Support authorizing you to utilize these funds.
