Involvement Opportunities

The International Center offers employment, internship, and volunteer opportunities to students.


Interns work alongside professional staff to enhance their leadership and communication skills by planning programs, events, and activities for the UCI International community. Internships are a one academic year commitment. These are paid Internships.

English Conversation Program InternsEnglish Conversation Program (ECP) is an English improvement and practice course for international students to practice their oral English skills in a fun, friendly and casual environment. International Students are paired with English-speaking facilitators who lead weekly conversations and activities. APPLY HERE!

Programs InternsPrograms Interns will assist the professional staff with the development and implementation of various International Center programs, activities, and events. Through these programs, international and domestic students have opportunities to learn about intercultural communication and global perspectives.  
Graphic Design InternThe Graphic Design Intern will assist the professional staff with the management and marketing of all IC programs and events.
Social Media & Engagement InternThe Social Media & Engagement Intern will assist the professional staff with the management and marketing of all IC programs and events.

I-STEPS is a transition program for new, first-year international students that includes workshops and discussions about how to succeed academically and socially at UCI. Topics within the I-STEPS Program include American Culture, American Slang, U.S. Classroom, Time Management, Student Health & Wellness and much more! I-STEPS Leaders help assist I-STEPS instructors at each class meeting and help coordinate and plan social events for I-STEPS students.

• Build leadership skills by interacting with and supporting new international students
• Connect with an I-STEPS instructor and assist them with class duties
• Lead opening activity and lesson plans for the first 15 minutes of each class.
• Coordinate activities and serve as a liaison to the International Center
• Receive 1.3 units through University Affairs

Under general supervision, the International Center Student Assistant provides administrative support to the International Center. They will assist IC staff in meeting the immigration-related needs of international students; including, file maintenance, data entry, and review of incoming immigration requests. Student Assistants are responsible for providing high-quality customer services to inquiries from students, scholars, university staff, and others in person and over the phone. They will also provide front-office reception and assist with other projects as needed. 

The position is an ideal fit for a student who is interested in international education, immigration law, and/or student services.

Across the Bridge (ATB) is recruiting coordinators for the 2020-2021 year! ATB strives to create space for international and domestic students to engage in dialogues around diversity and social justice topics including social identities, cultural values, and campus climate.

• Lead small group discussions with international and domestic students.

Volunteers are active members of the International Center and assist interns and professional staff with programs, events, and activities throughout the year. Volunteers will develop professionally and personally while working as an essential part of the marketing and promotion team for the center.
