Immigration Advising & Questions

  • Late Policy for Student Appointments
    • If you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, your appointment will be cancelled, and you will need to email the International Center to reschedule.
  • Live Chat: If you have a general question, or need more information, our office offers chat services once you visit our home page. Chat is available between 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm, Monday through Friday, excluding weekends and holidays.
  • Attend a Drop-In Session: For general questions, attend Ask-an-Advisor drop-in sessions. You will enter Zoom Waiting Room and be entered on a first come, first serve basis. If additional advisement is needed, you may be asked to schedule a longer appointment for a future time. For more information, or to sign-up, click here.

Receiving Your Documents

Your documents will be delivered to you either electronically via DocuSign, or by mail.

F-1 Students: All I-20s will continue to be issued electronically – any new documents issued to you during this time period will be sent to your UCI email.
J-1 Students: Your DS-2019 will need to be mailed to you. An International Center staff member will contact you with information to arrange shipping through eShipGlobal.

J-1 Scholars: DS-2019 document will be scheduled for a document pick-up or express mailed to your mailing address.

  • New J-1 Scholars: DS-2019 document will be express mailed to scholar’s mailing address.
  • J-1 Scholar Extensions: DS-2019 document will be scheduled for a document pick-up or express mailed to your mailing address. Method of delivery will be coordinated between the Scholar Advisor and the Academic Unit.

DS-2019 documents or employment-based visa documents will be scheduled for document pick-up. Scholar Advising staff will contact you to coordinate and schedule a pick-up time.
