You must keep your I-20/DS-2019 visa document up-to-date to maintain visa status. Below is a list of reasons you will need to update your visa document.

Addition or Change of Major
If you change your major during your academic career at UCI you are required to report it to the International Center. Your SEVIS record will be updated and you will get a new visa document to reflect the changes. You will need to submit the following documents:
- Student Visa Document Request (Select: Academic Major/Minor Change or Addition)
- Copy of your most recent I-94

Financial Information Change
If your funding sources change while you are attending UCI, you must request an update of your I-20/DS-2019 visa document. You will need to submit the following:

Name Change
The name on your immigration document must reflect the name on your passport. If you have changed your name on your passport, you must request an update to your visa document. You will need to submit the following documents:
- Student Visa Document Request (Select: Name Change)
- Copy of your new passport biographical page
- Copy of your most recent I-94
Program Extension
If you are completing your program later than the end date listed on your visa document, you must update the end date of your program on your visa document BEFORE the current end date listed. You will need to submit the following documents:
- Student Visa Document Request (Select: Program Extension)
- Academic Status Verification (Your academic counselor/advisor will need to complete and sign Section 2 if this form)
- Funding Verification
- Proof of Funding (Click here for more Funding Information)
- Copy of your most recent I-94
- Proof of summer course enrollment (for summer graduates only)
- You must be enrolled in at least 6 units if summer will be your last quarter or have approved reduced course load status for your final quarter.
Program Shorten
If you plan to complete your progam earlier than the end date listed on tor visa document, you can update your visa document with your new end date. You will need to submt the following documents:
- Student Visa Document Request (Select: Program Shorten)
- Academic Status Verification (Your academic counselor/advisor will need to complete and sign Section 2 of this form)
- Copy of your most recent I-94
Replacement of Document
If your visa document is lost, stolen, damaged, or needs to be updated for travel, you need to request a new visa document. You will need to submit the following documents:
- Student Visa Document Request (Select: Replacement of I-20 or DS-2019 and specify a reason for replacement)
