Student visa regulations allow you to take additional classes at another U.S. school while maintaining your student visa status at UCI. Some schools may ask you to provide verification of your visa status at UCI. You can request a letter from the UCI International Center to provide the verification.

If you plan to take these courses to meet degree requirements at UCI you should consult with your academic advising office to ensure that your course work at another school will satisfy degree requirements at UCI.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Maintain full-time enrollment at UCI.
    • Or be approved for final quarter reduced course load (RCL).
  • To enroll in a summer course at another institution, you must either:

  • If you are an F-1 student on Optional Practical Training (OPT), or J-1 student on Academic Training (AT) you are allowed to enroll in incidental classes at another school during your OPT/AT period.
